So now you’ve landed a position. Congratulations. You’re excited, and a tiny bit scared about your first day at work. As someone that has now got past the first week jitters, I want to share with you 7 things helped me make the transition from textbooks to office hours as seamless as possible.

Exploration is something I have facilitated for over a decade. I’ve collected all the stories like that geologist that was scared of cows and locked them all out from their watering paddock. Or that one time where an exploration hole with good results wasn’t within the lease. Or where the water brought in was contaminated with blue green algae, not great for the drill crew drilling on mud at the time or for the meterage with everyone off the rig sick.

Recently I went back to university for an intensive class. It was my first time back in a classroom setting in over a decade and really allowed me a chance to reflect upon the skills I’ve developed over my working life. One of these skills is the art of note taking which was brought to my attention by all of my classmates Apparently, I’ve developed a system that is unique which I’m more than happy to share in the hope that it assists you!
